What is searched

The text you enter gets searched against the following fields (where available):

• the organisation's formal name
• the organisation's acronym (e.g. MSD)
• the organisation's bilingual name (usually Māori)
• the name the organisation is commonly known as (e.g. Environment Bay of Plenty)
• other unofficial names by which people refer to it (often these are historic, such as 'Social Welfare' for MSD).

Description is not searched.

If you don't know the name of the organisation you're looking for, but know something about what it does, you can also use the newzeland.govt.nz search. This will check for both services and organisations that match your search and has a wider range of source material.
